What achievements have women achieved over the years?

Women have made a mark in history, overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds. These famous women in history blazed the trail for today’s modern, strong woman. Women in the digital era know what they want and work to get it. That is true in their education, families, careers, and even how they look and feel.

Today’s modern, strong woman

Consider some powerful women in history whose achievements still shine bright as Gluteboost celebrates Women's History Month.

Katharine Graham

Born in 1917, Graham comes from a long line of dignitaries, including American businessman Marc Eugene Meyer and his father, Joseph Newmark. In 1972, “Kay” Graham became the first woman CEO of a Fortune 500 as the head of The Washington Companies, known today as The Washington Post. She was in charge of the paper when it reported on Watergate and is one of the most influential women in the 20th century.

Janet Guthrie

History is full of women breaking the glass ceilings in men’s only industries. Janet Guthrie is one of them. Born in 1938, Guthrie did something no other woman motocross driver could do before her -- qualify for the INDY 500. Today, her helmet and race suit is in the Smithsonian Institution.

Sandra Day O’Connor

In 1981, Ronald Reagan nominated judge and elected official Sandra Day O’Connor to the United States Supreme Court. She went on to write majority opinions in some of the most prominent court cases in history, including Bush v. Gore in 2000.

Manon Rheaume

Add Manon Rheaume to the list of women crossing into male territory. She is responsible for several noteworthy “firsts” in her career as an ice hockey goaltender, starting at a young age. In 1984, she became the first girl goaltender to play on a boy’s team. She was also the first woman to play in a Major Junior hockey game on a men’s team.

However, her greatest accomplishment is being the first woman to sign a contract with a NHL league in 1992. The same year she won two gold medals at the IIHF WOmen’s World Championships and later took the silver medal in the 1998 Winter Olympics.

Isabel Martinez de Peron

Women all over the world have earned their place in history. In 1974, Isabel Martinez de Peron became the first woman to be president of a country. She was married to Juan Peron, president of Argentina. When he died, his wife took his place as the South American country leader. At that moment, she became the first-ever female head of state.

Barbara Walters

Before she became a host on The View, Barbara Walters was making waves on network TV. In the 1970s everyone was watching television through an antenna, and there were just three major networks. They served as the backbone of the information system of this country.

In the 1960s, Walters made her bones as a writer and segment producer for The Today Show. By 1974, she was the show’s co-host, making her the first woman to hold that title on a US news show. In 1976, ABC made history by hiring Walters to host their nightly news program with a contract worth one million dollars a year. She went on to play pioneering roles in 20/20 and The View. She is also famous for her annual most fascinating people list featuring some of the most beautiful women of history.

Women continue to make history even today. In 2010, Kathryn Gielow became the first woman to win the Best Director Oscar. In 2021, Senator Kamala Harris became the first female Vice President of the United States and her husband the first, second gentleman.

From Eve to Oprah, strong women have been creating her-story. In honor of Women’s History Month, Gluteboost is celebrating the achievements of these strong, history-changing women. If you want to find that stronger, curvier you, check out our science-based formulas and innovative tools today.
